On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, held a handover ceremony for a fatigue testing system. This system was provided under the collaborative project titled “The Project for Technology Development on Lifetime Management of Roads and Bridges for Strengthening Resilience in Thailand,” which involves four key counterparts: Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, the Department of Highways, and Waseda University, with support from JICA and JST. The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Kasem Choocharukul, Head of Civil Engineering Department and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phoonsak Pheinsusom, Project Director ,Chulalongkorn University, Dr. Ponlathep Lertworawanich, Director of the Bureau of Road Research and Development, Department of Highways, and Mr. Ryoichi Kawabe, Senior Representative of JICA, who represented their respective organizations at the opening ceremony.

The project began in April 2022 and is scheduled for completion in March 2027. As we move forward, our commitment to academic excellence and innovation remains unwavering. Chulalongkorn University is dedicated to utilizing this state-of-the-art fatigue testing system to its fullest potential, both within the institution and beyond. We envision that this system, along with our laboratory, will serve as a key stepping stone for Chulalongkorn University to become a leading hub of education and academic services in civil engineering.
